We have put together a few sample itineraries for you and your family to enjoy during your stay cation with us. From fairy trails, to historic points of interest our very own vegetable garden, and many trails and nature walks throughout our grounds there is so much to see and do outdoors. Indulge yourself in our Award Winning 2aa Rosette Fine dining Douglas Hyde Restaurant offers a 7 course tasting menu using home grown produce and locally sourced ingredients, Executive Head Chef Daniel Willimont promises a dining experience like no other.

2 Night Family Stay

Arrive for Check in to Kilronan Castle Estate & Spa from 3pm. The perfect afternoon adventure would be to take a trip to the Shannon Blueways A network of stunning trails running on and alongside Leitrim’s most idyllic lakes, canals and rivers by canoe, bike or on foot. Home to Ireland’ first floating boardwalk over Acres Lake. Hungry? – Enjoy a bite to eat in our Drawing Room. Day 2 – Looking for adventure? Then Lough Allen Water Park in Drumshanbo is only 15 minutes from Kilronan Castle, a fun packed day in store for water-sport enthusiasts. An ideal way to end your busy day would be to make your way to the Moorlands Equestrian center for an afternoon of Horse riding, picture perfect scenery and right on your doorstep whilst in Drumshanbo. Day 3 – Breakfast served in The Douglas Hyde Restaurant, afterwards why not drive to the local town, Carrick-On-Shannon only 15 minutes away and climb a-board Moon River for a Shannon River Tour taking in all of the glorious sights along the way.

A Day in County Sligo

Sligo only 40 minutes from Kilronan Castle, it boasts some of the most beautiful coastal villages and towns in Ireland, Family friendly activities are in abundance in Sligo, we have put together a sample itinerary with only a few of the attractions Sligo has to offer. Depart Kilronan Castle to Eagles Flying in Ballymote – Before and after the shows the visitors can walk the park lands and enjoy the birds displayed in aviaries or on perches close to the walking path. After Call in for lunch at the fabulous coastal town of Strandhill, take in the spectacular views of the Ocean & Knocknarea Mountain. Continue your journey to the magnificent Benbulben Mountain that commands views of Sligo and the stunning Mullaghmore Beach, another fabulous stop off point. Benbulben offers various nature trails and walks. On Route back to Kilronan Catsle a great sight for you to visit on the way back would be Glencar Lough, Glencar Waterfall is located near the lake’s north shore on the Leitrim side.

Day 2 – Lough Key Adventure Park – There is a fun packed day day in store for you at LoughKey Forest park, located only 15 minute drive from the hotel. Why not arrange a packed lunch with our colleagues on front desk to take away with you to the park. Day 3 – After your freshly prepared Breakfast served in The Douglas Hyde Restaurant take a trip to the Arigna Mining Experience, located only 20 minutes from the hotel in the quaint little Village, here you can enjoy a truly unique tour of the original mines. After take a short drive over to Drumshanbo, where the newly opened Shed Distillery is situated – The Shed’s 5 gleaming copper pot stills for Irish Whiskey, Gunpowder Irish Gin – and Sausage Tree Pure Irish Vodka.
